Many transformers look the same, so make sure that you
are ordering by part number. If you need help, make sure you have the model
number off of the unit you need parts for and then contact our parts counter
using this
form.
The most common
reason a transformer fails is because of a "short" in the control circuit.
Believe it or not, the most common reason for a short in split systems is
damaged control wiring around the outdoor unit. Since low voltage control wiring
is frequently not protected inside of a conduit, it can be easily damaged by
weed eaters and pets. If a transformer has failed because of a short in the
control circuit, the replacement transformer will also fail unless the short is
found and repaired.
